Today, our topic is about what the use of led drivers is and how to use it conveniently.
An LED driver's main purpose is to rectify higher voltage, alternating current to low voltage, direct current. LED drivers also protect LEDs from a voltage or current fluctuations. A change in voltage could cause a change in the current being supplied to the LEDs.
An LED driver is an electrical device that regulates power to an LED or a string of LEDs. Forward Voltage is the number of volts the light-emitting diode requires to conduct electricity and light up. As temperature increases, the forward voltage of the LED decreases, causing the LED to draw more current.
Use an LED driver with at least the same value as your LED(s). The driver must have a higher output power than your LEDs require for extra safety. If the output is equivalent to the LED power requirements, it is running at full power. Running at full power may cause the driver to have a shorter life span.
The MC34844AEP is a SMARTMOS high efficiency, LED driver for use in backlighting LCD displays from 10" to 20"+. Operating from supplies of 7.0 to 28 V. This device is capable of driving up to 160 LEDs in 10 parallel strings. Current in the 10 strings is matched to within 2% and can be programmed via the I2C/SM Bus interface.
